Hey friends, Seth here from Tribly.

We need to talk about the math of being an artist in 2026.

It is brutal.

You spend months writing, recording, and mixing a song. You pour your soul into it. You release it. You get 10,000 streams in the first week. You feel like a rockstar.

Then you check your distributor balance.

$40.

That is the Streaming Game. It is all about volume. Unless you are getting millions of plays a month, the odds are stacked against you.

But there is another game that most artists ignore. It is smaller, quieter, and infinitely more profitable.

It’s the Superfan Game.

📉 Let's Do The Math

Let’s look at the cold hard numbers.

  • 1 Stream ≈ $0.004

  • 1 Paid Supporter ($5/mo) = $60.00 / year

You need roughly 15,000 streams just to buy a tank of gas.
You need 1 supporter on a subscription to pay your internet bill.

Here is where it gets crazy:

To make $500/month on Spotify, you need 125,000 streams. Every. Single. Month.
To make $500/month from your community, you only need 100 fans paying $5.

Which feels more achievable to you? Finding 125,000 strangers, or finding 100 people who actually love what you do?

🔒 Stop Giving the "Gold" Away

We are trained to give everything away for free to "get exposure."

You post your demos on TikTok. You put your best Behind-the-Scenes footage on Reels. You drop your B-sides on SoundCloud.

You are taking your best stuff, the things only true fans care about, and trading them for penny-fractions and likes.

The New Way:
The "main" song is for everyone. It is your business card.
The "process" (demos, acoustic versions, studio vlogs) is for the Superfans.

That is your product.

What is Your "Gold"?

We are working on some major updates to help you launch Paid Communities directly in Tribly soon. But you need to be mentally ready first.

Your Challenge this week:
Identify one thing you usually give away for free that could be saved for your top fans.

  • Is it early access to tickets?

  • Is it a monthly "unreleased" voice memo?

  • Is it a breakdown of your lyrics?

Stop chasing the 100,000. Start building for the 100.

Here are artists creating the kind of immersive, high-value content that builds superfans:

  • Ariana Miri: Inviting fans into her world with the official visualizer for "Fairy Princess."

  • Lucaa: Connecting with listeners through the atmospheric official visualizer for the new track "W.E."
